How to get your business on Google Maps (and into the top 3)
, 7 min read
A step-by-step Google Business Profile guide for local businesses in Ahmedabad and Gujarat.
When someone searches “dentist near me” or “CA in Satellite”, Google shows a map with three businesses before any website. Those three get most of the calls. Here’s how to get your business there.
Step 1: Create or claim your Google Business Profile
Search for your business name on Google Maps. If it exists, click “Claim this business”. If not, add it at business.google.com. Google will verify you by video, phone or postcard.
Step 2: Fill in every field
- Exact business name (no extra keywords; Google can suspend you for that)
- The most specific primary category, plus relevant secondary categories
- Address, service area, phone, website and opening hours
- Services with short descriptions and prices
- At least 10 real photos: outside, inside, team and work
Step 3: Get reviews, steadily
Reviews are one of the strongest local ranking signals. Ask every happy customer, share your review link on WhatsApp, and reply to every review, good or bad. Never buy reviews; Google removes them and can penalise your profile.
Step 4: Match your website to your profile
Your website should show the same name, address and phone number, include your city in page titles, and have a page for each main service. Add LocalBusiness structured data so Google can connect the two.
Step 5: Post updates
Share offers, new work and news on your profile every week or two. Active profiles tend to perform better.
